There's An Epidemic In The Music Industry.

Research consistently shows that 75% to 85% of musicians play in pain.

As a teacher, this matters to you.

You’ve probably had several students with tension, discomfort, pain, and yes, injury.

You may even have had pain yourself.

We’re at a Crossroads in Teaching!

Our conventional Western European system of teaching music has some real problems:
  • It’s an old-fashioned method of teaching, based on the master/apprentice model.
  • It fosters a culture of criticism, comparison, and competition.
  • And many of its methods create serious risks of injury to students.
We need to shift our perspective:
  • How do we promote health & well-being, and minimize anxiety, discomfort and tension?
  • How do we prevent pain and injury before it begins?
  • How do we nurture a culture of curiosity, creativity, and collaboration?

“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”

Benjamin Franklin

The Vision

If we want to be able to support and nurture students for a lifetime of free and expressive music making, we need a system that teaches students, from day one, the following:
  • Their body IS their instrument, and they need to know how it works.
  • What they feel, think and believe is always valid and important.
  • They are good enough, no matter what the outside circumstances are.

“Lea is excellent in group settings – she makes it fun & easy to understand.  She creates a very welcoming, low stress environment that invites people to open up and try new things. My students and I are finding astounding results in our flute playing by applying the Body Mapping principles.”
